Today we wrote about what we did over “Winter Break.” Also, at stations, we worked on our spelling.
The class also passed their AWA test! Oh yeah!

Hi, my name is Jacob! We have been learning a lot about poetry. So, I am going to tell you all about it! First, we are doing haiku’s. It’s mostly about syllables. We’ve also been doing cinquain’s. The cinquain is mostly about verbs and nouns.
Those are the things that we’ve been learning about lately!
Abbi’s Post (11/13)
Hi! This is Abbi. This week we did the AWA writing test. At least it was only on Tuesday and Wednesday and NOT a whole week! We were ALL happy about that! I was really bored. Well, I got to go. Bye!

We had a fun today…not only with the Halloween party, but we got to perform a Reader’s Theatre to the 4th graders! It was called “The Hallo-Weiner” by Dave Pilkey, and we’ve been practicing very hard! I took some pics and asked Mrs.Ogg to post them on the Hitchcock website under 3rd grade & Mrs. Critser! So be on the lookout for them!

The Terra Nova has begun! :)
We kicked off the Terra Nova testing today with only 0ne test that we took from about 9:00 – 10:20! Boy were we hungry for our HEALTHY snacks and our EXTRA RECESS!
YA!
The kids realized the “big test” wasn’t as hard as they thought it was going to be, which was a big relief!
Keep going to bed early, eating a big protein filled breakfast, and bring healthy snacks! Goooooooo Tigers!

Ahh…nice break! :)
Hasn’t it been a nice break? It’s only been 3 days for me, but you guys have gotten a 5 day break…WOW! Hopefully everyone is energized and ready to come back to school!
See you all tomorrow! P.S. You should all have things to write about since you had such a LONG weekend…hint, hint!

Hi, I’m Grace, and our class just finished reading “Frindle” by Andrew Clemens. Its was about a boy in 5th grade who made up a word, and the word was frindle. Also, frindle was another word for “pen.”

Hello, I’m Tori! I want to tell you about the things we do at school! We learn lots of things, but I’m only going to tell you about 1 thing.
I want to talk about Math. We are learning about subtracting across zeros, but Tuesday is our last day of learning that. I liked that better. It’s kind of hard, but I can do it! I really don’t like Math as much as some people, but I’ll do it.
Well, I hope you really did like my story about Math, and I did do my best!
Good-bye!

Hi, this is Josh! In Math, we are learning about subtracting 3-digit numbers. We are also learning about regrouping EVERY digit. For example, if you subtract
500 – 229 you would have to regroup every single digit. If you subract 544-421, then you would just be subtracting without regrouping.
Good-bye now!

Just an fyi…in approximately 4 weeks we will be doing another week of novel reading. Last time our final project was to make a “sandwich book” (you’ll see these at conferences), but next time I’d like to do something with cereal boxes!
So, in the next 3-4 weeks be thinking of an empty cereal box you could save for this project…but PLEASE don’t have your child bring it to school yet!
More info will follow! Hope you’re enjoying the kids’ blogs…there will be another one tomorrow!
